Family fun in DC...

Well lack of Internet in our cabin equals no pictures with the blog until I get home but I can at least give a recap of our daily adventures.

**Update on 4/15/12 equals pictures!

Road trip (Saturday and Sunday) - having never gone far than a couple of hours from home with Alex we weren't sure what to expect so we only attempted about 5 hours before stopping in Fairmont, WV (home of Mary Lou Retton in case you were wondering). Alex did well in the car. Sleeping, playing and watching a couple of DVDs. On Saturday we had about 3 hours left to go and he took it like a champ.

Saturday night was spent in the lobby of a Holiday Inn in WV cheering on our Cats against the Cards. I am pretty sure the people at the hotel thought we were crazy but we didn't care!

Cabin - since there are 8 of us on this trip we found a cabin at the campground in College Park which is close to Thomas. We were all really pleased to find a very nice place. Four bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, lots of open space and a big enough dining room that we can all eat together.

Day 1 in DC (today) - let's call this day the day of walking. We walked all over DC today. We saw lots of sights though. We made it through the Natural History museum, saw Ford's theatre, the Washington Monument, the White House, Lincoln memorial, WWII memorial, and the reflecting pool but it's wasn't reflecting much since it was drained and under construction.

I even got to walk some!

At the Lincoln Memorial.

The museum was really cool. Reagan was very excited about the butterfly exhibit. You could go into a butterfly room and hang out with hundreds of butterflies. Mom and Kathy took the kids in since you had to pay to go in. We were able to watch through a window and see Reagan hold a big butterfly and see one and on Alex's head.

Even the museum knew Cats eat birds!

We represented UK well as we all sported our blue around our nation's Capitol. Even spelling out C-A-T-S in front of the Washington monument.

Up next tomorrow is the zoo. I am sure I will have good stories after that!

Well that's all I have for tonight as halftime comes to an end and I finish watching the cats win #8! Go Cats!
