Future Soccer Star?

Just a quick post of Alex playing with his new soccer ball at Reagan's game a couple of weeks ago. He has gotten fairly good at kicking, but of course he kicks absolutely everything so I guess that would be why!

Trouble Maker...

So it comes as no surprise that Alex is mischievous but here recently he has crossed over the line to actually being bad. This week in particular. All the Easter festivities (I will post about them separately) messed up his sleep routine a bit on Saturday and Sunday and caused us to have quite the cranky baby on our hands. Hitting when he was told not to do something, hitting just to get a reaction, whinning, fussing, just being contrary. This continued into Monday and he got into some trouble at Sandy's, losing sleep dog and paci at nap time and even not being allowed to go to Poppy's for the afternoon. Tuesday he improved and has continued to all week. Hopefully he is getting the message that behavior like that isn't tolerated by anyone.

At Sandy's, punishment is time-out and if it is really bad, time-out in the hallway. She sent me this picture one day of him in the hallway after hitting one of the other kids. I had to laugh at the look on his face. He is such a mess. We will have our hands full for years to come!

I Am King! Or a Soldier! Or Baby Bain!

About a week ago we stopped in for a quick lunch at Burger King and I saw some of the crowns sitting on the counter as we were waiting to order. I plopped one on the kids' heads thinking they would immediately take them off. Reagan did, but Alex surprisingly had a good time with his. He showed us all the different ways you can wear a BK crown:

Like a crown is supposed to be worn.
Upside down - roman soldier maybe?

Over his mouth - like Bain?

And I had to get one of the 2 of them together of course.

Fun With Bouncy Balls!

When I was a little girl I collected those little bouncy balls that you got out of the nickel machines. Granny would buy one me whenever we saw them. One might wonder what a kids does with probably a hundred bouncy balls but I created my fun. I would put them all in a bucket and would stand at the doorway to my Granny's kitchen, raise the bucket over my head, and release them all over her kitchen. They would bounce EVERYWHERE, into the corner by the door leading to the basement (thankfully there was a door), into the sink, onto the counters, onto the top of the refrigerator, etc. I thought this was by far the most fun game ever. I would collect them all and repeat it over and over again.

I think every member of my family has told Matt about this craziness I used to do and we even have my bucket of balls in our closet. I am pretty sure they are dry rotted and would fall apart of we actually tried to bounce them but regardless, we have them.

So imagine my surprise and joy when I found my son in the kitchen with all his bouncy balls kicking them around and having a blast. Of course his balls are much bigger, but it still tickled me to death.

And then my love takes it one step further to make it more like my childhood memory without me saying a word...

You can only imagine how much I enjoyed this as they repeated the fun over and over again. Matt never ceases to amaze me with his little touches of love that mean so much. For him to think of that memory I had and to recreate it for me with Alex was so special.

Boys Will Be Boys...

We have learned that it works out much better for everyone if we take a few toys to Reagan's indoor soccer games to keep Alex occupied. Yesterday I took his monster truck for him to play with and he found a little toy army guy in his stroller. He started out running them both down the bleacher and up the plastic barrier between us and the field but before long he got creative. What is it about boys and wanting to kill things? I had to laugh though. You can't hear it in the video but he was making the sound effects and everything. Revving up the truck and then squealing for the army guy.

TV Time...

Just in the last couple of weeks or a month Alex has become more interested in TV. He will watch it even more when he is tired like first thing in the morning or before bed. Last week Matt went to the UK game and I stayed home with the little man. I caught a typical chain of events for Alex:

Sitting on his little couch with a snack watching TV before bedtime.
Decided to stretch out. Notice Lexi checking it out. She later curled up on it after he went to bed.
Didn't have enough space so he pulled the couch out but still laid on it sideways.
Then wanted mommy to join him, which I didn't mind one bit.

And finally...

You know that calm baby wouldn't last too long!!

Another night, this is how he decided to watch TV...
Stretched out on Mommy's legs.

Game Day!

If our kids don't grow up to be as True Blue as Matt and I, I will not take the blame. We have done everything we know to help them fall in love with the Big Blue like. In one year Alex and Reagan have gone to Midnight Madness to watch a championship banner be hung, gone to a basketball game where Reagan got to experience the eRupption Zone and Alex got to have his first ice cream cone (probably equally exciting for them) and now they can mark ESPN's Game Day off the list. We went to the taping the weekend before last and they got to see what happens at a live taping of a TV show. Obviously Alex could care less but Reagan found it to be very cool.
